Since he was 21 years old, Vic has been self-employed, launching one successful business venture after another. Vic moved to Denver in January 1996 and began what has become one of the largest and most successful wireless distributors in the United States. Vic's concept was to assist "mom and pop" retailers by aggregating their selling power to procure favorable fees and rights from the national service providers. After years of dramatic growth and profitability, including several diverse acquisitions, the Advantage companies were successfully acquired by a group of private investors in 2004.
Vic's latest venture came in late 2003 when he acquired a wireless data service provider which was then on the verge of its third bankruptcy within 6 years. After acquiring the company-Ricochet Networks, Inc. - Vic streamlined the company's financials, and repositioned it to suit Homeland Security applications rather than consumers. Four months after Vic acquired Ricochet, the company turned its first profit since its inception in 1997. In June of 2004 it was successfully acquired by Terabeam, a publicly traded nationwide wireless infrastructure company.
Vic and his respective companies have consistently received recognition. In 2000 Advantage Wireless was awarded the prestigious honor of "Colorado Small Business of the Year" by the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. The Denver Business Journal also named Vic in the "top 40 under 40" for business executives of Colorado and Vic was a finalist in Ernst and Young's nationally recognized "Entrepreneur of the Year" contest. Vic has also been featured on CNN and in Entrepreneur magazine. Mr. Mitchell was elected to Colorado's General Assembly as a State Representative in 2006 and serves on various committees including Finance, Education, and Legislative Audit. Both Vic and his wife Amy are involved with a variety of community services including serving on various boards and non-profit associations.
Vic received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from San Diego State University and a Masters Degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Mitchell resides in Castle Rock, Colorado with his wife and three children.
